I had a spot on my console table that was missing something, and these wooden Christmas trees were the perfect fit!

- Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
- Hot glue gun/sticks or E6000 Glue
- Stain
- Miter Shears
- Sealer (optional)

Steps to Make a DIY Wooden Christmas Tree
Follow these simple steps and you’ll have your own wooden Christmas trees in no time!
Step One: Cut Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
Using miter shears, cut your jumbo popsicle sticks at a 45-degree angle on both ends.
Miter shears are one of my all-time favorite tools ever. They are so convenient. Check out this guide on miter shears to learn more. If you don’t have miter shears, this tool might feel like a bit of an initial investment (around $25), but I can almost guarantee you’ll find them useful for so many fun projects.
I did three trees at varying heights, so the number of pieces and sizes will be different depending on how many you make.
Step Two: Glue Sticks Together
Using hot glue, attach your tree pieces together. E6000 craft glue is a good option too!
Step Three: Stain or Paint DIY Wood Christmas Trees
I used Dark Walnut stain to stain my wooden Christmas trees. But it could also be cute to paint them or do a paint wash!
Typically it is best practice to use pre-stain conditioner on your wood. I always follow this rule, except with these popsicle sticks. I tested it with/without Prestain, and there really wasn’t much of a difference. But I notice a huge difference when working with my other woods.
